    Full Definition: What is readability

Readability measures how easy it is for the reader to understand the content. Factors: (1) Paragraph length (2-3 sentences vs. 10 dense sentences); (2) Complex vs. simple words; (3) Use of lists (bullets, numbered); (4) Spacing and visual formatting; (5) Sentence length (on average: 10-15 words). Google does not measure readability directly, but easy-to-read pages = more time on page, less bounce, more internal links. Metric: Flesch Reading Ease (0-100, >60 is good).

Why Does Readability Matter for SEO?

Hard-to-read content = visitors who leave quickly (high bounce rate). Bounce rate is an indirect ranking signal. Easy-to-read content = longer traffic duration = better ranking.
